This policy identifies actions to be taken in response to park security incidents of a criminal nature or involving violation of Park bylaws or policies which affect the security of the Park. Security incidents are distinguished from emergencies such as fire or medical, which are considered in other policies.
Security Incident Types and Responses
Below is listed the principal actions to be taken for Park security incidents. This is to be considered a guide. In every case, good judgment should prevail and in particular situations, departures from these actions may be justified. Any departures from these listed actions, however, will be recorded in the Park Security Incident report.
PC: Park Caretaker, Assistant to Park Caretaker, or Relief Caretaker
PB: President of Board of Directors
BD: Board of Directors
ASAP: As soon as possible
Personal safety is always the foremost consideration. This applies to Park staff, Board or other members and guests. It applies also to unauthorized persons in the park or non-members outside the gate. In all cases, if there is any perceived significant personal risk, the Park Caretaker should avoid any confrontation and seek advice from the President of the Board of Directors or any Board member. In serious cases, the police or Skagit County Sheriff should be contacted.
