Skagit County Public Works has announced important updates that will affect travel for residents and visitors along Cascade River Road and Rockport Cascade Road.

Marblemount Bridge Overnight Closures

To complete the rehabilitation of the Marblemount Bridge on Cascade River Road, the bridge will be closed to all traffic overnight during the following dates:

• August 24–28, 2026

• August 31–September 4, 2026

Closure Hours:
8:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m. (Monday evenings through Friday mornings)

The bridge will reopen each day after 4:00 a.m. and remain open during daytime hours and throughout the weekends.

These overnight closures are necessary to complete installation of the new bridge deck. The work requires the bridge to remain free of traffic while the epoxy overlay cures. Please note that the schedule is weather dependent and may be adjusted if rain delays construction.

Important Travel Notice

Because the Jordan Creek washout on Rockport Cascade Road has not yet been fully repaired, residents and visitors located east of the Marblemount Bridge should plan accordingly. During overnight closures, access between Cascade River Road and State Route 20 will not be available.

Emergency responders will continue to have access if needed during the closures.

Bridge rehabilitation is expected to be completed by October 2026.

Jordan Creek Temporary Bridge Construction

Construction of a temporary bridge over Jordan Creek will begin July 27, 2026.

Skagit County has contracted Franklin Pacific Construction to install a temporary Acrow bridge that will restore access across the washout created during the December 2025 floods.

If weather conditions cooperate, the temporary bridge is expected to be completed by the end of September 2026.

Residents in the area should expect increased construction activity and truck traffic while work is underway.

Looking Ahead

The temporary bridge will remain in place until a permanent bridge can be designed, funded, and constructed. Because the December 2025 flooding received a federal disaster declaration, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will reimburse eligible construction and bridge leasing costs, allowing the County to move forward with this interim solution.

A permanent replacement bridge will require additional design, environmental review, funding, and construction and is expected to take several years to complete.
