North Cascades Fires Update

September 15, 20251 min read

The Cascade River Park office recently received the following update from the North Cascades National Park Service Complex regarding current wildfire activity in the area:

Moderate fire behavior continued over the past couple of days on the Perry, Arctic, and Neve Fires due to cooler temperatures and partly cloudy skies. Fire behavior could increase slightly as fuels dry out with sunny conditions, but rain and cooler temperatures are expected to return on Sunday. Helicopters are supporting full suppression efforts with water drops and firefighter support.

Fire Details:

  • Perry Fire – 1,763 acres. Structure protection has been completed on the SNOTEL site and the historic backcountry shelter. Crews will continue monitoring in the Little Beaver area. View updates on InciWeb.

  • Arctic Fire – Approx. ¼ acre. Terrain limits direct firefighter access. Aerial water operations are planned as conditions allow.

  • Neve Fire – Approx. ¾ acre. Firefighters completed handline work and aerial water support continues as needed.

Closures & Safety Information:

  • Check the Fire Closures page before visiting for the most up-to-date trail and camp closure information.

  • Campfire bans remain in effect across all of North Cascades National Park, Ross Lake National Recreation Area, and Lake Chelan National Recreation Area—including all campgrounds along SR-20, Hozomeen, and the Stehekin Valley.

  • Smoke conditions may vary with weather. Sensitive individuals or those with respiratory concerns should take precautions and limit outdoor activity when smoke levels are high. For current smoke forecasts, visit fire.airnow.gov.
