CRCC is on track to once again be a FIREWISE community by the end of the summer season!
The Firewise program emphasizes community responsibility in planning the design of a safe neighborhood, as well as taking action to increase the ignition resistance of their homes and community and to reduce wildfire risks at the local level.
Current CCRC emphasis has been on widening fire breaks (such as roads) as well as reducing ladder fuels while still retaining nutrients, moisture, and wildlife habitats into the surrounding forest.
We encourage everyone to not only volunteer for cleanup days, but also do work on their individual lots when time allows. Be sure to log your hours worked. Any logged hours can be submitted to the park. Just email Firewise, the office or the Board.
The next park cleanup day is Saturday, April 20 starting at 8:30 a.m. at the picnic area next to the park bathrooms.
Coffee and lunch will be provided.
If anyone has questions regarding the program or how to improve their lots for wildfire resilience, feel free to email Firewise, or the Board.
32 members have requested their lot being assessed and then received a report from DNR with recommendations.
