At the CRCC 2017 Annual Meeting, the membership of Cascade River Park voted overwhelmingly in favor of the 2017-2018 fiscal year budget. The membership also voted in favor of Special Assessment #1, the Front Gate Project. We will begin work on that in the coming months. Thank you for your endorsement of these important items!
As it turned out, we ended up with a tie on Special Assessment #2, for Park Facilities Improvements. Not having had this happen in memory, the Board of Directors, after considering our Bylaws and how this exceptional vote result isn’t addressed by them, has decided to consider the tie vote a no-pass. Thus, the special assessment for the Park infrastructure project to build a bathroom isn’t enacted.
The Board may, at its discretion, proceed with some elements of preliminary development of the project using other funds already in-hand. Such an effort would enable us to prepare a more complete picture of the scope and cost of such a project and present the membership with enough information to consider future special assessments.
We are a community of neighbors, united in wanting what’s best for Cascade River Park. As energetic as the discussion got at times during the annual meeting, we truly appreciate the passionate dialog that went into it. We look forward to working with everyone to construct a plan that will address the Park’s need for sustainable, ADA-accessible restrooms and other facilities that will position the Park to support its membership’s needs.
