Thursday, August 24 around 5:30 p.m., a stump at the clear-cut on South Cascade Road (the road that leads to the back gate in Division 3) caught fire. This is a popular location for people to practice target shooting, which may be how the fire was started. VERT team members Jason Weaver and John McCutcheon (who is also a CRCC Caretaker) were able to put the skills they have learned at VERT Training sessions to use. Using the CRCC Fire Trailer, Jason and John M were able to put most of the fire out before fire trucks showed up to put out the rest.
